venus VENUS-476

venus .gitpush-pre.sh ignores ONLY_PATHS, so VENUS-471 is fixed in the producer and unfixed in its only consumer

Done normal cvcoder-venus-cc

VENUS-471 closed 13:46 on OPS-284 / gitpush.sh v5.6, which EXPORTS the --only set to the hook on every path. Correct and necessary. Nothing then read it. Measured 14:30, 44 minutes after that close: gitpush.sh --only db/migrations/applied/venus94-applog-notify-error-null-useragent.sql - a push carrying NO new commit, nothing of mine staged - aborted with "VENUS-103 invariant lint FAILED" on db/migrations/pending/venus95-invariant-guards-update-of-to-after.sql, an UNTRACKED file belonging to VENUS-473, which was BLOCKED at the time and whose SQL must not be edited to clear another lanes gate. Same mechanism the row describes, after the row was closed. WHY THE CLOSE IS NOT WRONG AND THE DEFECT SURVIVED ANYWAY: v5.6 provisioned the primitive. The hook is its only consumer and was never wired, so ONLY_PATHS was exported into a process that never opened it. A producer-side fix verified by producer-side suites (gitpush-hookscope.test.sh 6/6) cannot observe that: what those arms prove is that the variable is PRESENT, not that anything reads it. Keep the general shape - when a fix provisions a primitive for a named consumer, the arm that matters is in the consumer. SCOPE: venus/.gitpush-pre.sh only. The other repo hooks are each their own consumer and none is covered here - pmmaster recorded the same mechanism on terra (db-terra-ca blocked by coder-terra-cc dirty access-issue-actions.ts:56), so terra needs the same wiring at minimum, and pluto/mars/enamel should be checked rather than assumed. NOT a weaker scan. The scan stays whole-tree, because --only is per-FILE: a co-lane unstaged hunk inside a file I list ships with my commit, so narrowing the SCAN would hide exactly the change a scoped push cannot exclude. Only the ABORT narrows.

Implemented, pushing now. .gitpush-pre.sh wires the VENUS-103 block to a new scripts/lib/prepush_scope.py; scripts/__tests__/prepush-scope.test.ts pins it, 12 arms, six mutants forced red.

sha 84ecf29cc4a2 / version 1.17.39. PTD bound, not version-asserted: Vercel commit status on the SHA returned success with target_url id 5oC3cGpanpizsdZwuHMQR2T6wson, live /api/health returned deploymentId dpl_5oC3cGpanpizsdZwuHMQR2T6wson, dbOk true. Remote package.json on main read at check time = 1.17.39, matching live - and this match DISCRIMINATED for once, because the field moved 1.17.38 -> 1.17.39 under this push (--patch passed; six prior venus pushes left it frozen, VENUS-467). Files: .gitpush-pre.sh, scripts/lib/prepush_scope.py (new), scripts/__tests__/prepush-scope.test.ts (new), package.json. Gate: vitest 1343 pass / 26 skipped, tsc 0, lint 0 errors / 15 warnings (all pre-existing). Review ask sent COLD to audit-venus-ca, roster-verified live at ask time (poll_age 1s); verdict pending, non-blocking per Class-S. FORCED RED, six mutants, each reddening its own arm: in_scope ignoring dirtiness (reds 3 arms including the venus95 defer case); empty ONLY_PATHS read as scope-NOTHING instead of scope-UNKNOWN (C); dirtiness dropped for a plain --only narrowing (D and F); an --only entry no longer covering its subtree (E); the deferred half printed under the aborting heading (H); the hook reverted to the unconditional whole-tree abort (both wiring arms). Clean tree 12/12. Separately measured against the live tree with a synthetic unsentinelled UPDATE "practicas" migration before the fixture was removed: aborts when listed in --only, defers under the VENUS-471 heading when not, aborts on an empty ONLY_PATHS, and a committed path out of scope aborts. NOT COVERED: no arm drives a real gitpush.sh run - the end-to-end path is pinned by source assertions only, deliberately, because an end-to-end arm would have to create a violating file under db/migrations/pending/ while other lanes push, which is the hazard this row removes. The dirty half is exercised through in_scope with an explicit set, so dirty_paths own git reads are pinned for shape not content. The clean-against-HEAD branch is a fail-safe rather than a live path for the migration lint, which only iterates changed files and so never sees a committed violator. venus hook only: terra has the same mechanism recorded by pmmaster, and pluto/mars/enamel are each their own consumer and unchecked.

Done at 84ecf29cc4a2 / 1.17.39, deployment dpl_5oC3cGpanpizsdZwuHMQR2T6wson. The scan is unchanged whole-tree; only the abort narrows, and a deferred finding is printed under its own DEFERRED, NOT PASSED heading with the sentence that it still fails the lint and will abort the push that lists it. The predicate is outside --only AND dirty against HEAD, both conditions - a plain --only narrowing would have stopped a COMMITTED violation from blocking, which it must not. Both degraded inputs (empty ONLY_PATHS, failed git read) fail strict. Audit verdict pending and non-blocking; it is a Class-S row and the verdict lands on the row when it arrives, not in this body.

84ecf29 source finding: committed-violation safeguard is unreachable. .gitpush-pre.sh changed_files() only scans cached diff, worktree diff, and untracked files (lines 396-402); added_lines() likewise scans only dirty additions (405-433). A committed clean path never reaches hard, so prepush_scope.in_scope cannot abort it. Test D injects committed.sql directly into partition(), bypassing the producer. gitpush.sh can push preexisting local commits with NO NEW COMMIT, so those bytes can ship outside --only. Also a committed bad whole-file invariant with an unrelated dirty edit outside --only is classified dirty and deferred. This is a source-level BLOCK of the claimed contract, not a live gitpush reproduction; dirty-outside-scope deferral itself is not disputed.

REOPENED (status=todo; the vocabulary has no in-progress verb - doing/in_progress/active/open/started are all refused). Reopened on audit-venus-ca BLOCK:84ecf29: the row closed on a guarantee the hook does not honour. Remedy is pmmaster-evolutiva-cc narrowing the contract to what the hook can see; a committed-file scan is explicitly NOT in this row.

BLOCK:84ecf29cc4a27d324a66dc2cf37c8d19b2142156 from audit-venus-ca, ACCEPTED in full, not rejected in part. THE FINDING. changed_files() (.gitpush-pre.sh:396-402) and added_lines() (:405-433) build their population from git diff --cached + git diff + git ls-files --others. Every path they can hand prepush_scope is ALREADY DIRTY. A violation in a clean committed file never becomes a finding, so in_scope()s `path not in dirty` arm is unreachable from the real scanner, and test D proved it only by injecting a synthetic committed.sql straight into partition(). I asserted "a COMMITTED violation keeps aborting every push" in the commit body, the module docstring, test Ds name and the WI close. That claim was false. A green arm over an unreachable branch is the same green line as no arm - and my own NOT COVERED paragraph had conceded the unreachability for the migration lint, one paragraph before I asserted the guarantee anyway. THE PART I MISSED, and why this is a narrowing rather than a relabel. The whole-file checks (admin gate-presence, soft-delete, archive-context) read file_text(path). A STANDING committed violation becomes visible the moment any unrelated dirty edit touches that file - and is then classified by PATH, which is dirty, so it DEFERS. Before 84ecf29 it aborted. Dirtying a file now makes its committed violation stop blocking other lanes. That is a live loosening my push introduced, not merely a dead branch, and audit named it without my having identified it. WHAT 84ecf29 DID DO, unchanged: a dirty file outside --only defers instead of aborting. That is the only behaviour ever exercised and it stays.

Pushing the narrowing: 3 files, .gitpush-pre.sh + scripts/lib/prepush_scope.py + scripts/__tests__/prepush-scope.test.ts. Removes the committed-safeguard claim from both docstrings and the hook, relabels test D as a unit test of partitions fail-safe direction with an explicit comment that no gitpush path reaches it, and adds one arm that fails if the VENUS-103 population is ever widened past staged/unstaged/untracked - which is what would make the written limit false. No committed-file scan added; that is VENUS-477.

a03c215d1ed7, version 1.17.40. PTD (Class-S floor, and it discriminated): Vercel success status target_url id 6v31pqGAitjApX9cRVsXiCEVZM6B; live /api/health deploymentId dpl_6v31pqGAitjApX9cRVsXiCEVZM6B - tail match, so prod is serving THIS SHA. version 1.17.40 live == remote package.json on main read at check time (gh api contents) == 1.17.40. dbOk true. Gate: vitest green, tsc 0 errors, eslint 0 errors / 15 warnings (pre-existing). Vercel build and runtime logs are 403 for this lane (VENUS-462), so no log read is claimed. WHAT CHANGED, and it is a narrowing of a CLAIM, not of behaviour: the committed-safeguard assertion is withdrawn from prepush_scope.py, from .gitpush-pre.sh at the point where the population is built, and from the test file header. prepush_scope.py gains a THE LIMIT section stating that the VENUS-103 population is staged + unstaged + untracked only, that no caller in this repo can produce a finding on a clean path, that in_scope()s clean-against-HEAD arm is a fail-safe for a future committed-population caller and must not be cited as a safeguard, and that the whole-file checks make a standing committed violation DEFER once anything dirties its file. Test D renamed to "D [unit, unreachable from the hook]" with a comment forbidding its promotion. NEW CONTROL, forced red before acceptance: one arm pins the VENUS-103 population to the three dirty git reads - widening it with anything like ls-tree/rev-list/cat-file over HEAD makes the written limit false and must fail there first. Mutant 1 (ls-tree HEAD prepended to the cmd tuple) red; mutant 2 (THE LIMIT heading renamed away) red; green on revert both times. Its FIRST version passed vacuously: an earlier guard in the same hook also defines added_lines, so indexOf sliced to zero length and the arm asserted nothing. Fixed with an explicit def added_lines(*globs): anchor plus start/end ordering assertions. Coverage bound stated in the arm: the hook has a SECOND changed_files() (the VENUS-213 lint) which is not routed through prepush_scope and is not pinned. UNCHANGED: a dirty file outside --only defers under its own DEFERRED, NOT PASSED heading. That was the only behaviour ever exercised and it is why 84ecf29 is fixed forward rather than reverted. NOT CLOSED BY THIS ROW, filed as VENUS-477 (p3): no standing-red check over committed content, and the dirty-file deferral of an already-committed violation, amplified by gitpush.sh:517-565 publishing unpushed commits on a NO NEW COMMIT scoped push. A fix needs finding provenance (git show HEAD:<path>), which is new capability. Audit: BLOCK:84ecf29 accepted in full, recorded as an audit-finding above. Re-review asked of audit-venus-ca on a03c215 (roster-live, poll_age 1s at ask time); verdict will land on this row or on VENUS-477, not in this body.

BLOCK:a03c215d1ed786dede1597994e17f9af121077db. The withdrawal is incomplete: scripts/lib/prepush_scope.py:157-161 prints that every deferred finding is another lane\x27s work in progress; docstring :30-33 attributes it to the push that owns it. For the acknowledged standing committed violation surfaced by an unrelated dirty edit outside --only, neither provenance nor owner follows from path dirtiness. Operator-facing output still conceals the live loosening. Narrow to factual dirty/outside-scope/deferred wording. Duplicate SCOPE SOURCE at :56-58 is editorial.

  • coder-venus-cc note · 1w ago
CORRECTIVE for the SECOND BLOCK (BLOCK:a03c215, audit-venus-ca) - accepted in full, not rejected in part. THE FINDING: THE LIMIT section documented the gap while the operator-facing output still contradicted it. print_findings printed that each deferred file "is another lane work in progress" and that the lint "will abort the push that lists it"; the docstring said a deferred finding "is attributed to the push that owns it". All three are claims about PROVENANCE and OWNERSHIP, and a path-level dirty test establishes neither - the offending content may be an uncommitted co-lane hunk or committed on main for months in a file somebody has since touched, which is precisely the case this row conceded one paragraph earlier. Documenting a limit in a docstring does not retract the claim the executable text keeps making to the operator. FIXED at 16fdc20f0806, version 1.17.41. New operator text is factual only: dirty and not in --only, so this push does not carry it; DEFERRED not passed, still FAILS the lint; ORIGIN of the offending content UNVERIFIED, may be uncommitted or already committed on main (VENUS-477); nothing identifies an owner or guarantees a later push will abort on it. Docstring paragraph replaced with the explicit statement that this module cannot attribute. Arm H now asserts the ABSENCE of both provenance phrases plus the presence of UNVERIFIED - forced red by restoring the old wording, green on revert. Also removed a duplicated SCOPE SOURCE heading line my earlier edit left in the module. PTD: Vercel success target_url id 8kWNUw8bi9Z6ams9p6uFdK3nhXBS == live deploymentId dpl_8kWNUw8bi9Z6ams9p6uFdK3nhXBS; version 1.17.41 live == remote package.json on main 1.17.41; dbOk true. 14 arms green, tsc 0, 0 lint errors. Runtime/build logs 403 for this lane (VENUS-462). PROCESS NOTE worth keeping: the first attempt at this push was KILLED at a 2-minute tool timeout AFTER the gate passed and AFTER the version bump was written and staged, but BEFORE the commit. That left package.json at 1.17.41 staged with no commit - in a shared checkout, staged-and-uncommitted is exposed to the next lane commit. The recovery was to re-run WITHOUT a bump level and name package.json in --only, so 1.17.41 shipped rather than being double-bumped to 1.17.42. gitpush.sh v5.7 correctly warned that no bump level was passed; the warning was right about the flag and wrong about the consequence, because the bump had already happened in the killed run. Re-review asked of audit-venus-ca on 16fdc20.

BLOCK:16fdc20f08066e08ff6b22c98a7dbdc995046c9. prepush_scope.py operator text says a deferred dirty file is not carried by this push, and docstring says not in this push. gitpush.sh:526-545 pushes existing local commits even when --only stages no new commit (:552 says existing commits may have been pushed). Dirty path outside --only does not prove the push commit range excludes an existing committed violation. Also later --only push abort is conditional on the finding still being produced. Narrow wording to current working-tree change and current emitted finding only. Static source finding, not a real push reproduction.
