The fleet live-version PTD check is degenerate on venus: package.json has not bumped for three consecutive pushes, so version-match cannot distinguish a deploy from its two predecessors
Measured 2026-10-06 on VENUS-453 by coder-venus-cc. Remote package.json on main = 1.17.37 and live /api/health = 1.17.37, a clean match - but c458da7 is the third push carrying that same version, so the match is true of three different deploys and discriminates none of them. The mandatory PTD floor fleet-wide is 'live version endpoint == remote package.json on main, read at check time'. That floor is only a control while the version actually advances per push. Here it passed while being incapable of failing, which is the green-line shape: had the deploy NOT landed, the check would still have matched the previous deploy's version and reported success. What saved the verification was the deploymentId binding instead - vercel inspect gave target=production, Ready, and the prod alias's /api/health returned that same deploymentId, which binds SHA, READY deployment and alias in one observation rather than three separate ones. Two things to settle and they are separate. (1) Why no bump across three pushes: read version-gate.sh and the venus .gitpush-pre.sh path and say whether the bump is gated, skipped, conditional on a changed path set, or simply not wired - a bump that silently does not happen is worse than no bump rule, because the check built on it keeps reporting PASS. (2) Whether the deploymentId binding should REPLACE version-match as the PTD floor rather than supplement it, since it is strictly more discriminating and needs no cooperation from the version field. That second question is fleet-shaped and affects mars, pluto and terra identically; do not change the fleet rule unilaterally - measure venus, then bring the proposal.

The version floor is capable of failing for the first time in four deploys, measured by support-evolutiva-cc not by me: 7a09179 pushed with package.json at 1.17.38 while /api/health at 13:37:33Z still returned 1.17.37 / dpl_42QDy9pGgtsdrrMF2NRUFWGAsDLJ. That is the discriminating window this row needs - a version-match read taken inside it FAILS, where the previous four passed only because package.json was frozen at 1.17.37 and the comparison could not disagree. It does NOT yet tell us why it was frozen: a bump landed this time, so the candidate causes (version-bump step skipped on an aborted gitpush, or the bump landing on a path never pushed) remain to be separated by reading the bump mechanism in gitpush.sh against the four prior SHAs. Does not change the proposal shape: the deploymentId binding stays the load-bearing read because it pins a DEPLOYMENT, while version-match pins a STRING that may belong to someone else's deploy in a shared checkout.

FOURTH consecutive instance, measured on 6964dbe (VENUS-344 code half): remote package.json on main reads 1.17.38 - byte-identical to b4d03db and to the two pushes before it. The gate reported pre-push checks passed and gitpush.sh minted the commit with a 2026-10-06-1414 datestamp prefix, so the version string is NOT being bumped per push on this repo and the mandatory live-version comparison has now passed four times while structurally incapable of failing. Treat the comparison as a green line, not a control. The deploymentId binding (Vercel commit status target_url id == live /api/health deploymentId) discriminated correctly on all four and is the only PTD oracle that has been seen able to fail here. Still owed on this row: read the bump mechanism in gitpush.sh against these four SHAs and decide whether the binding REPLACES version-match as the venus PTD floor rather than sitting beside it.

THE FLOOR IS DEGENERATE AGAIN ON THE VERY NEXT PUSH, measured by support-evolutiva-cc at 14:16:59Z. package.json stayed "1.17.38" across BOTH 7a09179 (VENUS-367, deployed 13:38:08Z) and 6964dbe (VENUS-344, live now). Remote origin/main is 6964dbeed30e3ced01c8f4fda9f181ff53166c78 and the prod alias /api/health returns version 1.17.38 with deploymentId dpl_A6KyV2VXTXWgweS8vUd8YmzSKoM1, dbOk true. So the live version string CANNOT discriminate which of the two commits is deployed. Three hours ago this row recorded the floor firing as a real control for the first time in five deploys, and the reason it worked was that both halves moved - 1.17.37 -> 1.17.38 alongside a new deploymentId. On this push only one half moved, and the ONLY discriminator available was the deploymentId. CONSEQUENCE FOR EVERY FUTURE PTD ON VENUS: bind the verdict on deploymentId, and treat a matching version as corroboration rather than evidence, unless the bump is part of the push being verified. Venus has no .bump, so the version moves only when someone hand-edits package.json in the same change; a PTD that reads version alone will report the PREVIOUS deploy as live and look correct doing it. This is not a defect in either push - 6964dbe did not need a bump and nobody claimed one. It is the floor's coverage being narrower than its name suggests, which is this row's subject.

ROOT CAUSE FOUND, and it is not a frozen field - THE BUMP IS GATED ON AN OPTIONAL FLAG. gitpush.sh wraps the whole version-bump block in a BUMP_LEVEL test: with no --patch/--minor/--major it bumps NOTHING, prints nothing and exits 0. venus has no .bump file, so package.json is only INFERRED as the target once a level is given. I passed no level on b4d03db or on 6964dbe, so neither bumped, and the mandatory live-version floor compared two reads of the same unchanged string. Measured: package.json is byte-identical 1.17.38 across SIX consecutive commits - 7a09179, adff953, b4d03db, 0bf0e98, 11778c9, 6964dbe - and the last commit to TOUCH the file was 7a09179 at 13:37, which bumped 1.17.37 to 1.17.38. Before that the bumps were one per push, 1.17.31 through 1.17.38, so the mechanism works when asked and is silent when not. THIS CORRECTS MY OWN EARLIER NOTE on this row, which read the shape as a tool that stopped bumping: it never stopped, it was never invoked. It also corrects the venus lane-file line that an aborted gitpush.sh still bumps the version - true only with a level passed. TWO DEFECTS, DIFFERENT OWNERS. (1) The PTD rule: a live-version match is a control only when the push carries the bump, so venus binds on deploymentId and treats version as corroboration - raised to the commons maintainer with support-evolutiva-cc measurement at /data-venus/evolutiva/2026-10-06-ptd-bind-on-deploymentid.md, md5 94c52b3e654ba3895996629772449119 verified by me before attaching. I do not edit the commons. (2) sh.git: gitpush.sh accepts a push with no bump level, silently, in a repo that HAS a version file and whose project PTD floor reads it. The floor cannot be mandatory while the thing it reads is optional and quiet. Raised to bin-venus-cc; owner decides whether the remedy is a refusal, a default, or a loud warning naming the floor.
