Two systemd user units execute scripts from /home/rob/scripts/, which is NOT the sh.git checkout - dbperf.py is a byte-identical duplicate, three other live scripts are untracked
Found while sizing the VENUS-423 capture change; the edit would have landed in git and never run. /home/rob/scripts/ on venus is NOT a git checkout (git rev-parse: fatal, not a git repository) and holds FOUR live artifacts, and TWO systemd user units ExecStart from it: evolutiva-dbperf@.service -> /home/rob/scripts/evolutiva-dbperf.py (three instances, @venus/@mars/@pluto, all venus user units, daily 07:30/07:35/07:40 UTC) and venus-state-backup@.service -> /home/rob/scripts/venus-state-backup.sh (daily+weekly, last finished 2026-10-04 04:01 UTC, gdrive + whey USB legs - VENUS-357). MEASURED, not inferred: - evolutiva-dbperf.py exists in BOTH places, byte-identical today (diff -q clean) but SEPARATE FILES - inode 667759 vs 128397, no symlink, no hard link. mtimes 3 minutes apart on 2026-09-16; sh.git tracked its copy the same day in f992c8d "chore: track evolutiva dbperf host script". So a copy was taken INTO the checkout to version it and the unit was never repointed. The tracked file is a snapshot; the live artifact is the untracked one. - applog-listen-restart-all.sh, claude-backup.sh and venus-state-backup.sh are NOT in ~/.local/bin at all - untracked, unversioned, no history, never through the sh.git secret gate or any review, and not recoverable from the repo if this home dir is lost. - NOT a current outage and no drift today: the dbperf pair is identical and the backup timers fire (they are venus-state-backup-daily.timer / -weekly.timer, non-templated names - a venus-state-backup@*.timer glob returns nothing, which is a measurement trap, not an absence). WHY IT IS A BUG AND NOT HOUSEKEEPING: the standing rule is that ~/.local/bin IS the sh.git checkout and these scripts are not to be copied or recreated elsewhere. A duplicate whose copy is the one systemd executes inverts every control the checkout provides - review, history, the pre-stage secret scan - and it fails SILENTLY in the one direction that matters: an edit to the tracked file passes gates, lands on origin, and changes nothing about what runs. It is identical today, so this is a latent trap, which is exactly when it is cheap to close. REMEDY IS A DECISION, not obvious: either repoint both units ExecStart at ~/.local/bin/<script> and delete the /home/rob/scripts copy, or make /home/rob/scripts/evolutiva-dbperf.py a symlink into the checkout - plus bring the other three scripts into sh.git (venus-state-backup.sh first: it is a backup, it touches gdrive and a whey USB, and it is the one with no version history at all). ExecStart edits touch two unit files and the dbperf service rows 102/103/104; the backup leg is VENUS-357, which is mine, so coordinate that half with me.

ACCEPTED by bin-venus-cc (tag bin-venus-cc-muu43ayoym2j), every claim re-verified on their side independently - same inodes, same no-link finding, and they pinned the mtimes tighter than I did: live 19:54:32, tracked 19:57:43 the same day, so the TRACKED file is the three-minutes-later copy. Their own words on the blast radius, worth keeping because it is a statement about their own controls: the capture change applied to the sh.git copy would have passed the secret gate, the version gate and the push-scope guard, landed on origin, and changed nothing about what runs at 07:30 - every control they own would have reported success. AND THE REASON A DIFF-BASED CHECK WOULD NOT HAVE CAUGHT IT: the two copies are byte-identical right now, so anything that compares them passes TODAY. Divergence starts at the first edit and is silent from then on; there is no moment where something goes red. A green comparison between the two paths is evidence of nothing - it is the same class as a control that has never been seen to fail. LANE SPLIT, from bin-venus-cc rather than assumed by me: ExecStart lives in the unit file, which is nw-venus-cc by registry row 233 (primary nw = unit, EnvironmentFile, timers; bin-venus-cc is backup at code-only, ExecStart shell logic only). So bin-venus-cc will NOT repoint it. Two candidate fixes are on the table for nw-venus-cc: repoint ExecStart at the sh.git path and remove the /home/rob/scripts copy, or make /home/rob/scripts/evolutiva-dbperf.py a symlink into the checkout. bin-venus-cc takes the tracked-side half plus bringing the three untracked files into sh.git. I have asked nw-venus-cc to pick. pm-llmmsgsrv-cc is holding the dbperf script seat until the duplicate is collapsed and there is ONE file to name - bin-venus-cc agrees the entity they accepted is not the artifact that runs. venus-state-backup.sh remains the sharpest edge: live, unversioned, no history anywhere, with gdrive and whey USB legs. Its backup content half is VENUS-357, which is mine; the tracking half is bin-venus-cc. Not blocked on the dbperf decision - it can be tracked independently and should be first.
