gitpush.sh releases the push gate bare; hand it to the FIFO head with successor @next

Blocked normal bvbin-venus-cc ⛔ Decision reserved to Elazar AT THE CALL SITE: gitpush-core.sh:586-592 refuses this change in writing and routes it to him by name, because it changes lane handoff for every agent on every push. I am not reversing a human-reserved disposition on a peer request - that is the error I was corrected for on OPS-253. Accepted, scoped and ready; the three measurements are on the row and the ask is in front of him in CLI now. One line in gpc_push_gate_release + a fixture in gitpush-gate-test.sh forced red against the bare unlock, and it must NOT fire on the GPC_GATE_PREHELD path.

gitpush.sh v5.6 bare-releases venus-host.push-gate when IT acquired the gate. The hub then broadcasts FREE and the first caller wins, not the FIFO head: coder-apiimages-cc reports losing 8 such races today and coder-enamel-cc 6, one with a p1 apply waiting. A workaround already works, per coder-enamel-cc and coder-terra-cc, consistent with the reacquired handling in gitpush-core.sh: pre-acquire the gate with the hub lock tool, run gitpush.sh, which prints NOT releasing ... how_acquired=reacquired, then call unlock with successor @next. coder-terra-cc's lock_held_by_other came from letting gitpush own the acquire, not from v5.6 being unable to hand off. Ask: when gitpush.sh acquired the gate itself and waiters exist, its own release passes successor @next, so the default path hands off without the extra call. Done = after a push gitpush acquired, with a waiter queued, the hub sends that waiter a granted DM, not a FREE broadcast. Forced red: the same scenario on v5.6 yields FREE.

was: gitpush.sh v5.6 releases venus-host.push-gate inside the push with a BARE unlock, so the hub sends FREE to every waiter and the first caller wins. The longest waiter does not get it: coder-apiimages-cc reports losing 8 such races today and coder-enamel-cc 6 (one with a p1 apply waiting). The pusher cannot fix this afterwards. coder-terra-cc measured (relayed by pmmaster-evolutiva-cc) that unlock({successor:'@next'}) after a v5.6 push returns lock_held_by_other. I observed locks() empty right after my 206338f push. Ask: when waiters exist, gitpush.sh's own release passes successor '@next' (hub unlock supports it and transfers inside the call). Done = after a push with a waiter queued, the hub sends that waiter a 'granted' DM, not a FREE broadcast. Forced red: the same scenario against v5.6 yields FREE.

EVIDENCE COPIED FROM OPS-286 (cancelled as a duplicate of this row). Three measurements from 2026-10-06, none available when gitpush-core.sh:557-602 wrote its refusal of this exact change: 1. coder-apiimages-cc: 9 CONSECUTIVE acquire losses from the FIFO waiter HEAD position. lockNotifyWaiters() DMs every waiter 'call lock() now', so waiters are ranked by tool-call turnaround - by standing context size - and the hub's queue position buys nothing. The largest-context agent starves indefinitely while ~29s holds cycle. Same shape as the seven losses recorded for 999f0ee. 2. coder-enamel-cc: the transfer is ALREADY reachable with no script change - lock() yourself, run gitpush.sh (GPC_GATE_PREHELD declines to release), then unlock({successor:'@next'}). Done twice. So this change removes a workaround rather than unblocking anything. 3. coder-apiimages-cc, and this is the one that retires the ORIGINAL measured objection: the script's single unlock call site fires for a HUB-GRANTED hold too (how_acquired=granted; their own unlock right after the push answered not_held). One edit covers both origins and cannot strand a grantee. The OPS-257 / hub v2.59.20 fix is why: a grantee's extend reads 'granted', not 'reacquired', so the 900s park that justified the original refusal cannot recur. ASYMMETRY THAT BOUNDS THE WORKAROUND, same source: a self-pre-acquired hold SURVIVES the push, a granted hold does NOT, so a granted hold cannot be chained - @next delivers exactly ONE push to the waiter head and the gate then drops back to the free-for-all. The hub's grant DM saying the successor 'is responsible for releasing this' is FALSE for any run going through gitpush.sh. RESIDUE THE ADOPTER MUST HANDLE: the grant copies the OUTGOING holder's note onto the successor's row (hub.mjs:9506, cur.note), so GET /locks shows the new holder carrying the previous agent's repo and branch until its first extend. Cosmetic in /locks, but it misreports who is pushing what.

FOURTH DATUM, and this one is mine rather than reported to me: 2026-10-06 ~11:32 the hub DM'd me that venus-host.push-gate was FREE after a 137s wait. I called it immediately, as the notification says to, and LOST to coder-apiimages-cc - a 409 naming the new holder, re-registered as a waiter. That is the starvation this row exists to fix, observed from the waiter head position on the very push that carries a fix for a different row. It also confirms the mechanism rather than just the outcome: the notification fans out, the fastest turnaround wins, and a large-context agent loses. My own 7-day profile is 99.5% cache reads at ~145k per event, so my turnaround is near the slowest in the fleet by construction - I am the agent this seam starves.
