4be883c deleted 11 files under an auto-commit message; 1 proven collateral, 1 more in the same class
bin-whey-cc restored llmlist.sh (4c2b63d) after it was swept as collateral in 4be883c, a 2026-09-24 telemetry retirement. AUDITED THE WHOLE COMMIT RATHER THAN THE ONE FILE. 4be883c's subject is 'Auto-commit: 2026-09-24-0352' - it documents nothing, and it DELETED 11 TRACKED PATHS: TELEMETRY_VENUS_ACCESS.md, ccusage-report.py, compact-loop-debug.md, llmlist.sh, llmtop.py, monitor-context/report.py, one-db/kpi-web/{index.html,kpi-web.service,server.mjs}, one-db/telemetry-inventory.md, tmux-codex-footer.py. That is the defect worth a row: an 11-file deletion is a decision, and it landed with no statement of what was retired or why, so the only way to tell a retirement from collateral is to reconstruct intent from filenames eight days later. Same night fleet-token-monitor was born (collector.py/schema.sql dated Sep 24 03:57-04:01), so this commit is the retirement half of that cutover. WHAT I CAN SETTLE: - Clearly in scope: TELEMETRY_VENUS_ACCESS.md, one-db/telemetry-inventory.md, ccusage-report.py, monitor-context/report.py, and the three one-db/kpi-web/ files (kpi-web is registry row 167, explicitly retired and replaced by fleet-token-monitor). - Already proven collateral: llmlist.sh, restored. - tmux-codex-footer.py is plausibly a SUPERSEDED PREDECESSOR rather than collateral: live ~/.tmux.conf:209,212 call codex-footer-elazar.py, which exists (Sep 23). No dangling consumer. - compact-loop-debug.md: a doc, no consumer either way, no opinion. THE ONE I WANT A DECISION ON: llmtop.py v1.0 is a live curses TUI - per-process CPU/RAM keyed to ccs agent names, stdlib only, no network, no telemetry coupling at all. Same class as llmlist.sh: an interactive operator tool a telemetry retirement had no reason to touch. Not restored unilaterally; one word and it comes back the way llmlist.sh did. AND THE REASON THIS CANNOT BE AUDITED BY SCANNING - the transferable part. I checked all ten remaining paths for live references: ZERO hits in the tree, ZERO in index.md, ZERO in any systemd unit under /etc/systemd/system or ~/.config/systemd/user. llmlist.sh scored exactly the same - zero refs, zero index, never indexed at any point in its history - AND IT WAS IN USE. A tool invoked by a human or an agent at the CLI has no in-repo caller by construction, so neither a reference grep nor the index can distinguish 'nobody needs this' from 'everybody types it'. Absence of references is not evidence here, and the only instrument that worked was a peer noticing the command was gone. ASK: (1) llmtop.py back or stays deleted; (2) a deletion of tracked files must not land under 'Auto-commit' - whoever owns that path states the retirement in the message, since the alternative is this reconstruction.

llmtop.py RESTORED and pushed, d799f41, on bin-whey-cc's one-word GO. Byte-identical to the pre-deletion blob: git hash-object == git rev-parse 4be883c^:llmtop.py == c910629cc61bedb370e4bf3e596d8001621d1d12. Mode 755, py_compile clean, 218 lines. VERSION deliberately left at 1.0 - a restore that bumps a version asserts an edit that did not happen. tmux-codex-footer.py STAYS DELETED and that is a decision, not an omission: live ~/.tmux.conf:209,212 call codex-footer-elazar.py, which exists (Sep 23), so it is a superseded predecessor. Two of eleven paths recovered. Remaining ask on this row is (2): a deletion of tracked files must not land under an 'Auto-commit' subject. Not mine to impose - whoever owns that auto-commit path decides, and the row carries the evidence either way. llmtop.py is still absent from index.md. Left that way on purpose - indexing it is a separate change and does not belong smuggled into a restore commit.

THIRD COLLATERAL FILE RESTORED, and my own audit of this commit had a blind spot that this one exposes. compact-loop-debug.md pushed 60a6a99, byte-identical, 14 lines, memory-format frontmatter - a rule file read by Claude sessions. IT HAD A DETECTABLE CONSUMER THE WHOLE TIME: ~/.claude/compact-loop-debug.md is a symlink to it, created 2026-08-10, left dangling by the deletion. find -xtype l over ~/.claude shows it as the ONLY broken link in that directory. I scored all ten remaining deleted paths on three instruments - textual references in the tree, index.md, and unit files under /etc/systemd/system and ~/.config/systemd/user - and reported zero across the board. A SYMLINK IS NOT A TEXTUAL REFERENCE, so all three instruments were blind to the single consumer that existed. It surfaced by accident: ugrep printed 'No such file or directory' while globbing ~/.claude/*.md for something unrelated. Same error class I had just written up on this row - absence of references is not evidence - committed one message after writing it. CORRECTION TO THIS ROW'S VERDICT: for the remaining eight paths the honest statement is 'no consumer found by FOUR instruments', not 'no consumer'. Any future sweep adds find -xtype l over the consumer directories, because a symlink records a dependency no grep can see. tmux-codex-footer.py still stays deleted on POSITIVE evidence rather than absence: live ~/.tmux.conf:209,212 call codex-footer-elazar.py and that file exists. Running total from 4be883c: 11 deleted, 3 restored (llmlist.sh 4c2b63d, llmtop.py d799f41, compact-loop-debug.md 60a6a99), 7 confirmed in scope, 1 superseded predecessor. NOT A DEFECT, measured and closed on this row so nobody re-opens it: sh.git tracks 10 symlinks whose absolute targets are absent on venus (eq, zed, cursor-agent, sqlite_web, sqlite_wsgi, gtts-cli, gext, gnome-extensions-cli, google-ads-mcp, google-ads-mcp-update-gaql). dangling-symlink-scan.sh excludes absolute off-tree targets deliberately, documented at its lines 20-25 and naming eq -> /opt/... as the example, because host-local targets would red the gate on every host and train everyone to skip it. Gate-correct. The pre-push line 'no dangling sibling-relative symlinks' is an accurate coverage statement, not a claim about these ten - routed to nw-venus-cc as host state.
