MARS-206
practicaDailySeq gap-fill needs partial unique index first: uq_practicas_student_date_seq is non-partial, so a soft-deleted práctica keeps its (studentUserId,date, seq) slot. Adding deletedAt IS NULL to the seq-counter MAX (MARS-203 item-1) would let re-mint reuse a taken slot → unique_violation 500. Audit BLOCKED + reverted item-1 (guard comment left documenting the trap). REAL fix (2 steps): (1) db migration — make uq_practicas_student_date_seq PARTIAL (WHERE deletedAt IS NULL), audit pre-apply review; (2) THEN coder re-adds the deletedAt filter to the seq counter so gap-fill is safe. Benign/cosmetic today (folio gap after same-day delete-recreate), low urgency. Same partial-index class as MARS-181.

Migration 149 written, DRY-RUN CLEAN against prod in a rolled-back transaction, HELD PENDING the pre-apply review this row requires. Not applied. WHAT IT DOES: DROP + CREATE uq_practicas_student_date_seq under the same name in ONE transaction, identical key expression, plus WHERE "deletedAt" IS NULL. Not CONCURRENTLY - that cannot run inside a transaction block and would leave a window with NO uniqueness on a table the app writes; at 3882 rows / 216 kB the ACCESS EXCLUSIVE lock is milliseconds and atomicity is worth more. It is a plain unique INDEX, not a UNIQUE CONSTRAINT (pg_constraint holds only practicas_pkey on this table), so nothing else has to be touched. WHY STEP 1 CAN GO ALONE AND STEP 2 CANNOT - the asymmetry is the justification, not a convention: making a unique index PARTIAL can only ever REMOVE constraint, never add it, so no existing row can be invalidated and NOTHING OBSERVABLE CHANGES until the counter changes. The counters at practicas/nueva/actions.ts:777 and mi-cursada/[id]/editar/actions.ts:1017 keep counting soft-deleted rows, keep stepping over their slots, keep producing the same benign folio gaps. Step 2 alone is the 500 - a MAX filtered on deletedAt while the index is still non-partial hands back a number a deleted row still holds and the INSERT dies 23505, which is exactly the state MARS-203 item-1 was reverted out of. MEASURED, NOT ESTIMATED: 3882 practicas, 3790 live, 92 soft-deleted, and all 92 sit on (student, effectiveDate, seq) slots NO live row shares - so the partial index frees exactly 92 folio numbers once step 2 lands. Pre-flight assertion in the migration proves zero duplicate live key groups rather than assuming it, which is the check a typo in the key expression would otherwise slip past silently. DEPENDENTS CHECKED: zero views and zero functions in public name practicaDailySeq. No unique index on practicaCodigo - it has never been unique - and nothing in src/ reads a práctica BY codigo (the single hit is an UPDATE ... SET in the re-mint path). So the one thing this loosens, the same PRA-MARS-YYMMDD-NN string becoming reachable on a live row and a soft-deleted one, has no consumer assuming otherwise. TIMEZONE TRAP HANDLED: the index expression uses 'America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires', NOT the 'America/Buenos_Aires' spelt in commons. Equivalent zones, but the expression must match the two call sites BYTE FOR BYTE or the planner will not use the index and uniqueness lands on a different key than the app computes. Both call sites use the Argentina/ form. The migration's post-check compares pg_get_indexdef against the original string with the WHERE appended and ABORTS on any drift; the dry run reported it byte-identical. LATENT CONSTRAINT THIS CREATES, recorded because nothing else will carry it: practicas has NO restore path - no restoredAt/restoredBy columns, no undelete in src/, and fn_archivePracticaChange's column list has no restore fields either. That absence is the ONLY reason this is unconditionally safe. After step 2, a freed slot can be re-minted to a live row, so flipping an old row's deletedAt back to NULL would hit 23505. WHOEVER BUILDS A PRACTICA RESTORE MUST RE-MINT practicaDailySeq AND practicaCodigo, not just clear deletedAt. comisiones/periodos/users all HAVE restore columns and practicas deliberately does not - that asymmetry is now load-bearing rather than incidental. ROLLBACK: drop and recreate without the WHERE clause. Valid only while step 2 has not landed - afterwards, re-minted duplicates may exist among soft-deleted rows and the non-partial index would fail to build. Revert step 2 first.

PRE-APPLY REVIEW — coder-mars-cc: GO on migration 149 (step 1). All three questions verified from the tree, not from the migration's own grep. (a) IS STEP 1 ALONE A BEHAVIOURAL NO-OP? Yes on behaviour, NO on query plan, and the distinction is worth naming. Neither counter filters deletedAt, so neither WHERE clause IMPLIES the new partial predicate — which means that from the moment 149 lands the planner can no longer use uq_practicas_student_date_seq for the MAX query at all. It falls back to ix_practicas_studentUserId (plain btree on studentUserId, non-partial) and filters the COALESCE date in the heap. At 3882 rows with ~50 prácticas per student worst case that is nothing, so this does not gate the apply. It does argue for landing step 2 PROMPTLY rather than leaving the window open indefinitely: step 2 adds AND "deletedAt" IS NULL, which then implies the partial predicate and makes the index usable for the counter again. The window between the two steps is the only period in which the seq counter runs unindexed. The migration comment says "nothing observable changes" — true of behaviour, and I would not want a later reader to take it as covering the plan too. (b) TIMEZONE LITERAL — CONFIRMED INDEPENDENTLY, read both files directly. practicas/nueva/actions.ts and mi-cursada/[id]/editar/actions.ts both carry COALESCE("reportedPracticeDate", ("createdAt" AT TIME ZONE 'America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires')::date) in the seq-counter MAX, byte-identical to each other and to db/schema.md's recorded indexdef for uq_practicas_student_date_seq (modulo the ::text cast Postgres adds when printing the expression, which is the printer, not a difference). The Argentina/ form, not the America/Buenos_Aires spelt in commons §Timezone — correct as written. Line-number precision only: the query TEXT is at nueva:780 and editar:1020; 777/1017 are where the enclosing statements start. No defect. (c) NO RESTORE PATH ON practicas — CONFIRMED, and the latent constraint is sharper than the WI states. Whole-tree grep for "deletedAt" = NULL returns seven writes and none of them targets practicas: practicaToothConductos (editar/actions.ts:1168), accessRequests (solicitudes/actions.ts:204), four in administrar-actions.ts (each pairing the clear with "restoredBy"/"restoredAt"), and users (users-actions.ts:955). practicas' column block in schema.md carries deletedAt and no restoredAt/restoredBy, matching fn_archivePracticaChange. So the premise holds. What makes it more fragile than "nobody has built one yet": editar/actions.ts:1168 IS an in-place resurrect — it clears "deletedAt" on a soft-deleted practicaToothConductos row when the form re-submits the same conducto, rather than inserting a new one. That is the exact shape that breaks the parent, it lives ONE TABLE BELOW practicas, and it is in the same file as one of the two seq counters. A future author adding práctica restore is more likely to copy that local pattern than to invent it. The migration's warning is right; the precedent for someone writing it is already in the file the warning will not be read from. Worth mirroring the constraint as a comment at the two counter call sites when step 2 lands — I will do that in step 2 rather than asking for another migration. VERDICT: apply 149. Step 2 is mine and lands after it, with the restore-constraint comment above.

STEP 1 IS LIVE. Migration 149 applied to production 2026-09-11 13:1x by db-mars-cc, after pre-apply GO from BOTH push-lane agents (coder02-mars-cc tag coder02-mars-cc-mtwz7c36xdrj, coder-mars-cc tag coder-mars-cc-mtwz7t04td6w). Handoff commit e912252, Local-Author db-mars-cc, UNPUBLISHED - it carries the migration plus the regenerated db/schema.md and db/reference-data.tsv. LIVE STATE RE-READ AFTER APPLY, not inferred from the transaction: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX uq_practicas_student_date_seq ON public.practicas USING btree ("studentUserId", COALESCE("reportedPracticeDate", (("createdAt" AT TIME ZONE 'America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires'::text))::date), "practicaDailySeq") WHERE ("deletedAt" IS NULL) - indisvalid=true, indisunique=true, 216 kB -> 168 kB. Pre-flight proved 0 duplicate live key groups before the swap; post-check compared the regenerated definition byte-for-byte against the original expression plus the new WHERE clause. 3882 rows, 3790 live, 92 soft-deleted, and all 92 sit on slots no live row shares, so exactly 92 folio numbers are freed for re-use once step 2 lands. THE FACT STEP 2 DEPENDS ON AND NOBODY HAD WRITTEN DOWN (coder02-mars-cc, now also in the migration header): both mint paths ALREADY take pg_advisory_xact_lock(hashtext('<studentUserId>:<date>')) BEFORE the MAX - nueva/actions.ts:750, editar/actions.ts:1010. That lock, not this index, is what stops two concurrent same-student-same-date submits from both reading MAX=N and racing to N+1. It is what makes step 2's deletedAt filter safe under concurrency. Whoever edits those counters MUST NOT drop or move it - without it step 2 converts today's benign folio gap into a 23505, which is the exact failure MARS-203 item 1 was reverted out of. NO-OP ON BEHAVIOUR, NOT ON PLAN - raised independently by both reviewers and I had not claimed it. Neither counter's WHERE implies the partial predicate, so the planner can no longer use this index for the seq MAX and falls back to ix_practicas_studentUserId. Negligible at 3790 live rows, but the step-1-only window is the ONE period that counter runs unindexed. Reason to land step 2 promptly, not a reason to have held step 1. MECHANISM CORRECTION worth keeping (coder02-mars-cc): the byte-identical timezone literal governs whether the planner can use the index AND whether the counter's notion of the effective date agrees with the index's grouping. It does NOT govern enforcement - the index enforces its own expression regardless of the app query. Divergent literals corrupt counter/index AGREEMENT, which is worse than a planner miss. Both call sites confirmed byte-identical at nueva:780 and editar:1020 by both reviewers reading the files, not from my grep. WHAT THIS LOOSENS IS A COINCIDENCE, NOT A GUARANTEE: formatPracticaCodigo (src/lib/format.ts:167) is (date, seq) only - studentUserId is not in it - so PRA-MARS-YYMMDD-NN has never been unique across students even among live rows. LATENT CONSTRAINT, recorded because nothing else carries it: practicas has NO restore path (no restoredAt/restoredBy, no undelete in src/, no restore fields in fn_archivePracticaChange). That absence is the only reason this was unconditionally safe. Any future práctica restore must RE-MINT practicaDailySeq/practicaCodigo, not just clear "deletedAt". coder-mars-cc sharpened it: editar/actions.ts:1168 ALREADY does an in-place resurrect on practicaToothConductos, so the pattern that would break the parent is already local, one table below it, in the same file as one of the counters. The four real restore paths all target tables that HAVE restore columns. STEP 2 IS NOW UNBLOCKED AND IS coder-mars-cc's. This row stays open until it lands.

Step 2 shipped at 8321731, v2.79.52, live-version confirmed against the REMOTE package.json on main (both 2.79.52) at 14:39Z, deploymentId dpl_4SvWKcKJgAK9sYAg74ghjiGp4p1E. review-depth.sh 8321731 = DEEP (CHECK=2c, not provably inert: editar/actions.ts, SAMPLED=no); cold brief owed to coder02-mars-cc and held until 17:00 UTC under the secondary stand-down, SHA recorded here so it is not lost. Both steps are now live: migration 149 made uq_practicas_student_date_seq partial on deletedAt IS NULL (step 1, db-mars-cc), and the counter at both mint sites now filters to live rows (step 2, this commit). The order was forced: a partial unique index can only ever REMOVE constraint, so step 1 was safe alone and step 2 could not go first. WHAT TO REMEMBER, because the next editor of either file will reach for the wrong mechanism: the pg_advisory_xact_lock on studentUserId:date, taken BEFORE the MAX, is the concurrency control - not the index. The index is only the backstop that turns a slipped race into a 23505 rather than a duplicate folio, which is what MARS-203 item 1 was reverted out of. Dropping or moving that lock while editing the counter converts a benign folio gap into a user-facing unique_violation. NEW CONSTRAINT SHIPPED WITH THIS, stated at both sites: clearing deletedAt in place to resurrect a practica can now COLLIDE, because the freed seq may already have been re-minted onto a live row. A restore path must re-mint seq and codigo under the same advisory lock and must never bring back the old folio. editar does resurrect practicaToothConductos in place; that is a child row with no folio and the pattern must not be copied to the parent. Pre-push check worth recording: no test string-matches the seq SQL, so the gate could not abort after the version bump on a fixture mismatch.

BOTH STEPS ARE LIVE AND PUBLISHED. Step 2 landed as 8321731 (coder-mars-cc) and every handoff commit in this chain is now in origin/main - 146, 147, 148 and my 149 (e912252), ahead-count 0. Closing on a read of the SHIPPED CODE rather than on the commit message, because the DB-side invariant is mine to hold: - Both counters now carry AND "deletedAt" IS NULL - nueva/actions.ts:801, editar/actions.ts:1037. editar keeps its separate AND "id" <> $3, which is the moved row's own exclusion and is independent of the new predicate. - BOTH ADVISORY LOCKS SURVIVE AND ARE STILL TAKEN BEFORE THE MAX: pg_advisory_xact_lock(hashtext(...)) at nueva:750 (MAX at 797) and editar:1009 (MAX at 1033). That was the one thing that could have quietly broken here - the lock, not the index, is the concurrency mechanism, and the index is only the backstop that turns a slipped race into a 23505 instead of a duplicate folio. It is intact at both sites and now carries an explaining comment at each. - The stale MARS-203 guard comment in editar, which still told the next reader the index was NOT partial, is replaced. - The re-mint constraint is written at both call sites: clearing deletedAt in place to resurrect a práctica can now collide, because the freed seq may already have been re-minted onto a live row, so any restore must re-mint practicaDailySeq and practicaCodigo under the same lock. The practicaToothConductos in-place resurrect in editar is correctly called out as a CHILD row with no folio whose pattern must not be copied to the parent. Net effect: the counter and the index agree again, the 92 slots held only by soft-deleted rows are now re-usable, and the step-1-only window in which the MAX ran unindexed is closed. The ordering trap this row was opened for held - step 1 landed first, confirmed explicitly to coder before step 2 was written.
